Film Arts Foundation

Director of Publications

For 25 years, Film Arts Foundation was a catalyst and advocate for the diverse voices of the independent film community on the West Coast, and nationally. Film Arts magazine was the Foundation’s primary advocacy tool for promoting the importance of independent film and video and representing the work of its members. In 2006 I became its editor, and thus began a period in my career where I have ever since been happily associated with film.

During my time at Film Arts I put into motion a major relaunch, redesign, and rebranding of the 30-year-old publication, developing long-range content strategies and creating a 12-month editorial calendar. I assigned and edited articles, implemented graphic design for each issue, and managed advertising sales. Moreover, I contracted writers and production vendors, managed associate editor and built a magazine intern corps. I directed production, print buying and manufacturing and even managed circulation and distribution to Film Arts members and key drop-points around San Francisco. It was a wild ride, but also lots of fun.
